How to Survive Harp Isles Disasters

Launch weather is trying to kill your research timer. Here is the leave-or-die list.

Disasters Guide

Natural disasters are a launch pillar, not a later DLC. Recap videos named the day-one set: tornadoes, firenados, meteor showers, floods, earthquakes, and acid rain. More can be added. Lore events on the events calendar will dress these up as story, but the mechanical answer is the same: see it, stop crafting, leave.

Why disasters exist

They break camps. A creature game without weather becomes a parking lot of apexes. Harp Isles wants you moving — which is painful if you just started a skill tree node in a field. Plan research in cover. Plan nests with an escape pin in mind.

Tornadoes and firenados

Wind is a grab. Fliers can outrun a ground funnel if how to fly is already in their hands. Juveniles without takeoff must use caves and rocks. Firenados add a damage-over-time skin to the same problem — do not “tank it” on a health subspecies unless you like revive shopping.

If a funnel is on your nest, the nest is already gone. Rebuild later with packs.

Meteor showers

Vertical death. Look up. Caves that bird swarms already use are your friend; they were built as porous terrain. Open fruit piles are bait. If you are mid-craft, cancel or finish in one click and run. Do not loot every crater like it is a gift — some craters are still hot.

Floods

Water rises. Swimmers get a buffed map; poor swimmers get a drowning tutorial. Move to high pins you already marked in Getting Started. Sharks become a flood feature, not a coastline rumor. Herbivores should pre-stack food because plant nodes can submerge.

Earthquakes

Stuns, terrain shakes, maybe nest damage. Stop sprinting on cliff edges. Flight torque plus a camera shake is how motion sickness returns even after the recode. Land, crouch, wait. Then check the nest.

Acid rain

Sky DoT. Get under canopy, cave, or water if your kit allows. Standing on a ridge to “see” is how you donate DNA to the biome. Acid rain is also a good time to avoid PvP — everyone is already leaking.

Event weather

Ashes Awakening (10 September 2026) is a dragon-from-the-deep story. Ghouls Rising, Primal Roots, and Nuclear Winter will remix threats. Treat event weather as the same six disasters until we see a seventh type on the roadmap.

Loadout for bad skies

  • A flier or a cave body, not both-bad.
  • Revives from dailies for the first two fumbles.
  • No advanced research started in a forecast window.
  • A pack so someone can ping “leave” in chat while you are in the oven UI.

Scripts that auto-dodge disasters will mis-path into sharks. Skip them — script safety.

If you remember one rule: disasters beat greed. Food nodes respawn. Your adult timer does not.

Sound and sky tells

You often hear a disaster before you see the funnel. Wind pitch, meteor whistles, rain that ticks on the camera — treat new audio as a UI warning even if the icon is late. If you play muted on mobile, you will die to weather you would have survived on PC. Turn the game sounds up and the lobby music down.

Sky color shifts are the second tell. Green-gray for funnels, ember for firenados, white streaks for meteors, brown water for floods, haze for acid. If you cannot name the color, assume the worst and move to a cave you already used in Getting Started.

Pack pings

A useful pack is a weather radio. One player watches the horizon while another sits in the oven UI. If your pack never pings disasters, you do not have a pack — you have four solos sharing a nest icon. Set a one-word callout (storm, meteor, flood) before you need it. Details belong on packs and trading.

After the sky clears, loot carefully. Other players also waited. The first corpse in a crater is sometimes a baited adult, not a free meal.,
