Harp Isles Controls

Menu stack, locomotion, and why each Avatar feels different in the air.

Last updated:

Game Controls

Harp Isles does not use one WASD clone for every body. The recode made ground, swim, and flight tunables per Avatar and per subspecies. Learn the menus first, then the meters, then the air. If you skip to flight, the dive stat will introduce you to the floor.

The main menu holds play, specimen select, customization, and the gift cluster for daily rewards. Specimen select is still marked WIP in older videos; launch uses the same idea: pick an Avatar, paint parts, set a spawn pin.

Camera follows the creature, not a humanoid shoulder. Look-around is mouse on PC, drag on mobile, stick on console. If you get sick, lower camera shake in Roblox settings and avoid max dive until you read how to fly. The old flight model was called out for dizziness; the new one is better, not magic.

Ground movement

Walk, sprint, jump, and crouch/stalk if the species has a stealth posedown. Tail and neck turn are animated — they are not extra buttons, but they change how you aim a bite. Breathing and blinks are cosmetic. Stamina, if present on your body, is a sprint and lunge tax. Do not dump stamina at the edge of a cliff.

Mobile: a joystick plus an action cluster. Keep the jump button away from the bite button; mis-taps start PvP you did not want.

Water: swim and dive

Swim is its own locomotion, rebuilt with flight and ground. Surface swim for travel; dive for fish, sharks, and hiding from aerial hunters. Sharks can attack you. Fish are food or flavor depending on diet — see diets. If your Avatar is a poor swimmer, treat water as a wall, not a highway.

Hold dive only as long as your oxygen/stamina model allows. Launch footage showed WIP diving; live timing may differ. Surface before a flood disaster pins you under debris.

Flight stats you will actually feel

Showcases listed the knobs that differ per kit:

  • Max flight speed — cruise.
  • Max dive speed — how hard the floor can hit.
  • Turn radius — canyon and cave work. Bird swarms will out-turn a wide kit.
  • Flight torque — how fast pitch and roll start.
  • Brake speed — landing without a faceplant.

Two subspecies of the same creature can disagree on all five. That is why the subspecies tier list exists. A speed fork is not “the same Avatar but shinier.”

Combat inputs

Basic bite/claw on primary fire. Secondary attacks exist (FAQ: multiple attacks). Abilities and status effects are per species. The lunge is a grab-style mini-game — testers compared it to other creature-game grabs but with more interaction. Practice on dart plants and NPC birds, not on packmates.

Plant NPCs: flytraps grab and apply venom if you walk in. Dart plants shoot; you can loot darts for crafting. Both can be killed for resources.

Quality of life

  • Emotes / animated calls were shown in development clips. They are social, not damage.
  • Map pin is a spawn tool, not a teleport once you are live. Dying returns you through the menu flow, not a battlefield respawn hammer.
  • Settings should include graphics and maybe a PvP-related toggle; launch previews discussed PvP toggle as a question, not a promise. Check the live settings panel.

If a control is missing on console, it is a platform mapping issue — join Discord rather than installing a keyboard mapper script.

Once WASD (or the joystick) feels boring, you are ready for how to fly and then how to grow. Controls are the floor. Hunger is the wall.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Harp Isles questions.

Are Harp Isles controls the same on mobile?

Same actions, different layout. Joystick plus action cluster. Practice in a quiet biome first.

Why does my friend turn faster in the air?

Turn radius and torque are per Avatar and subspecies. See how to fly.

What button is lunge?

It is a dedicated ability input on the combat cluster, not the basic bite. Check the in-game key legend for your platform.

Can I rebind keys?

Use Roblox/OS rebinds if the game panel is thin. Do not install a script to remap.
