Harp Isles Items and Crafting Materials
Every harvestable plant, mob drop, and oven recipe — in one place.
Harp Isles runs on a crafting loop. Materials come from the world: flora you pick, NPCs you hunt, and stations you operate. This page documents every material source and craftable output so you know exactly what to grab and what to cook before you touch the oven.

Botanical Ingredients
These grow in the wild and serve as both food and craft inputs.
Luminescent Reed — Marsh biome perennial. Glows visibly at night. Primary source of healing-salve craft input. Harvest near water at dusk for best yield. One of the most contested nodes at launch.
Softroot Bulb — Meadow biome tuber. Restores hunger directly when eaten. Also counts as a craft input for vitality recipes. Common near inland riverbeds. Farm it in batches — it stacks poorly.
Salt Lichen — Coastal biome crustose. Reduces sprint stamina drain when consumed raw. Stamina economy is the difference between making a dart run and dying mid-flight. Check tidepools on the outer islands for dense clusters.
Crystalline Moss — Rare high-altitude bryophyte found on mountain and cliff faces. Yields permanent Techtree tokens when processed. One of the hardest materials to farm in the game. Bring a flight-capable Avatar.
Brackish Kelp — Mangrove and estuarine zones. Provides hydration and a minor hunger restore. Less efficient than Softroot for hunger, but available in water-heavy biomes where Softroot does not grow.
NPC Animal Drops
Hunt these for food and crafting ingredients.
Bird Swarm — Small flying NPCs found near trees and open sky. Drop feathers and minor food. Farm them during growth phases when you need quick hunger fill. They scatter fast — corner them near water or cliffs.
Coastal Fish — Swims in shallow water near beaches. Drops fish meat and scales. Fish meat restores hunger; scales are a crafting input for endurance tonics. Easy to farm with a swimmer or flier Avatar.
Shark — Apex coastal predator. Does not spawn in shallow water. High risk, high reward: shark meat is a strong hunger restore, and shark hide is a crafting material for nest reinforcement. Do not attempt solo as a juvenile.
Dart Frog — Small amphibian in swamp and marsh zones. Drops Dart Toxin, the named input for Camouflage Extract. Also drops minor food. Easy to farm once you locate the biome.
Bonepile — Static world object near old nest sites and cave entrances. Yields bones and occasionally rare crafting residues. Check cave networks on second visits — bonepiles respawn slowly.
Crafting Stations and the Oven
The crafting station is a fixed world object. Find one in each major biome. The station hosts the oven, which is where raw materials become research files.
Oven — The central crafting device at each station. Converts material inputs into research files and advanced research files. One oven per station. If the station is in the open, check for disasters before starting a long cook.
How to craft:
- Approach the station.
- Open the crafting menu.
- Select a recipe.
- Confirm material cost.
- Wait for craft completion.
- Collect output.
Do not AFK at the oven with your back exposed. The archipelago is multiplayer.
Craftable Outputs
Research File — Primary oven output. Required to advance the Techtree. Farm darts and world materials, then cook the file. One research file is the minimum craftable unit.
Advanced Research File — Higher-tier oven output for expensive Techtree nodes. Costs more materials but advances multiple nodes at once. Check node requirements before burning extra materials.
Vitality Salve — Crafted at the station (not oven). Restores 35% HP over 10 seconds and cleanses minor bleed debuffs. Requires Luminescent Reed and Softroot Bulb. Essential before boss events.
Endurance Tonic — Crafted at the station. Reduces sprint stamina drain by 20% for 3 minutes. Requires Salt Lichen and Brackish Kelp. Essential for long-distance travel and disaster survival.
Camouflage Extract — Crafted at the station. Masks your scent trail for 4 minutes. Requires Dart Toxin from Dart Frogs. Useful for evading apex predators during vulnerable growth phases.
Material Priority
Not all materials are equal. Use this priority when your bag is full:
- Research files — gates the Techtree, non-negotiable
- Luminescent Reed — healing craft input, always needed
- Softroot Bulb — food security between hunts
- Salt Lichen — stamina economy for fliers
- Dart Toxin — camouflage for at-risk growth phases
- Crystalline Moss — only if you are at a mountain biome
- Shark Hide — nest crafting, only when you have a nest
Inventory Hygiene
The world is large. Materials despawn slowly but player traffic removes them fast. Do not hoard every Luminescent Reed you find — cook files when you have five or more darts, then leave the station. A full inventory you never visit is a wasted inventory.
If a recipe asks for an event-exclusive material, check the events calendar before farming. Some materials appear only during specific event windows.
Event-Specific Materials
Ashes Awakening introduced fire-adjacent disaster zones. Zones affected by the Great Dragon event may drop ember-resistant materials or new fire-themed crafting inputs. Recheck this page 48 hours after the 10 September event.
The updates hub will log material additions. Check it before committing to a farming route.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Harp Isles questions.
Where do I find Luminescent Reed?
Marsh biome near water sources. Glows at night. Harvest at dusk for best yield.
What does the oven craft?
Research files and advanced research files. The station around it crafts salves and tonics.
Is Crystalline Moss worth farming?
Yes for permanent Techtree tokens, but it only grows at high altitude. Bring a flight-capable Avatar.
Can I trade crafted items?
Assume research files are bound. Check the official trading hub before assuming anything is transferable.
